My pride and joy. My Harley started out as an FLT with fairings, a nasty set of pipes and a bulky tank. Now sporting a Road King front end, S&S heads and carb and some really cool hard bags. I’m a transplant in Jacksonville, Florida, USA originally from just down the road in Hinckley Leics.

Triumph

This is me in 1978 on my newly constructed Triumph bitsa - my pride and joy! The bike was built to look like a 1961 Bonneville, I added clip-on's, rear-set footrests and megaphone silencers to cafe race it! It went well in a straight line having 750cc barrels and sporty cams but round bends, well that's another matter! Thinking about it the brakes were rubbish as well! Still I learnt loads about building bikes from the project and constantly tried to improve it.

In 1979 having had enough of no brakes and scary handling I decided to get rid of the Triumph chassis in favor of a slimline featherbed and Roadholder forks - enter my Triton! I stuck a early Commando twin-leading shoe brake in the front which worked well and a noisy two into one exhaust with a short home-made silencer that resembled a ice-cream cone - that is without the ice-cream! This bike handled superbly you could easily scrape the foot pegs! Dunlop Red Arrow tyres were all the rage then and as good as you could get!
